The changes don’t stop there. The benefactor of the sales/publicity won’t be one entity, like ending hunger in Africa was the goal last time. THIS time, “a percentage of the revenue from the sale of the recordings and associated products will be split between a noted charity in each country devoted to ending world hunger and a third-party charity devoted to the same goals on a global basis,” according to a statement.
What’s it going to sound like? That’s another question. The project’s producer, Jeffrey Weber, said he has not yet connected with Lionel Richie, the Jackson estate or Quincy Jones about the project – who were the driving forces behind the original and that update in 2010.
Pre-production is set to begin on July 1, at which time Weber will start to gather musicians and singers from each country.
