The Birmingham Home Show is back February 20-22 with the latest in home design, renovation and ideas. Industry experts, local vendors, and homeowners will come together at the BJCC for three days of inspiration, education and hands-on experiences.

The show’s special guests are custom home designers Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt of HGTV’s 100 Day Dream Home.  The design duo is known both for their witty banter and for designing and building perfect custom homes for their clients in 100 days or less. Brian started working construction jobs in college and began flipping houses on his own after graduation. After the 2008 housing crash, Brian got back on his feet by opening a chain of fitness clubs before reconnecting with Mika — 10 years after they first met as juniors in high school.

The Kleinschmidts have streamlined the entire process of homebuilding: from designing the house, to finding the lot, to making the countless little-but-important decisions that come with building a house. Mika guides clients through the process and design, while Brian oversees the builds.

Renowned as one of HGTV’s most successful duos, they’ve also conquered the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge and Rock the Block. They will share their best design and build strategies on the Fresh Ideas Stage at 5p.m. on Friday and 1p.m. on Saturday.

Additionally, two of Birmingham’s own will be bringing exciting features to the show.

Get Your Hands Dirty at the DIY Plant Workshops

Andrea Huff, owner of PLANT Florals & Design will help guests add a little green to their home with interactive DIY Plant Workshops, a fun and educational show feature for plant lovers of all skill levels. “In Birmingham, we’re seeing homeowners embrace projects that combine style, comfort, and functionality. Open-concept layouts, natural lighting, and outdoor living spaces are very popular right now, as people want their homes to feel bright and connected. Smart-home upgrades are also trending, from solar options to smart thermostats, showing that sustainability is becoming a priority,” said Mari Franco, Show Manager with Marketplace Events. “On top of that, local and artisanal touches in décor and materials are gaining attention, as homeowners want spaces that feel personal and reflect our community. The market continues to change, and our event is designed to meet the consumer wherever they are in the process of home improvement.”

To recognize local frontline heroes, the show celebrates Hero Day every day. All active military personnel, veterans, police, fire, and first responders are invited to attend the show free of charge.
